David Austin is an instructor at CDL University’s Oklahoma City, Oklahoma campus.
Like all of our instructors, Mr. David Austin brings a wealth of industry experience to the classroom. Mr. David Austin possesses over forty-five (45) years of work experience in most areas of the transportation industry.
David Austin was raised in the livestock and trucking industry. He never envisioned himself in a career not involving trucks. At the age of eighteen (18), David purchased his first semi truck and trailer. Soon after, he increased operations to include three (3) tractor trailers, and merged his fleet with his brother’s and father’s, totaling 10 units between the three of them.
David sold his trucking business after several years of operation and accepted a position training truck drivers, where he taught for the next ten (10) years of his career. After a decade of teaching truck driving, Mr. Austin was offered a position in Safety, Operations, and Driver Management with a medium-sized trucking company contracted with the United States Postal Service. For the next fifteen (15) years, he worked with truck drivers on a daily basis.
David Austin eventually returned to do what his heart called for: working with entry level students that are wanting to enter into the transportation industry. Since this time, he has trained students in multiple U.S. states in various areas and types of vehicles helping students develop the skills and knowledge to successfully take and pass their Class A CDL test for driving tractor trailers.
